Cosplay costumes are not cheap. Our costumes are unique and complex and most people want to make sure that their costume lasts for as long as possible. In this post, we’ll give a few tips and pointers on how to maintain your cosplay costume.  

Washing your costume :

The first thing to remember is cosplay costumes are usually made from different materials, one costume can have up to five different materials. Most of the time the materials used will not react well with a machine wash; for example silk or satin will require a hand wash.

You should also try and avoid cleaning the costume too often as this will only wear the costume out. Storage is also important, in order to avoid color degradation you should store your costume in a cool, damp-free place and use a clothes cover.

If a part of your costume gets torn, instead of throwing the costume away you can simply replace that piece of the costume. Some people create unique patches to give their costume a more authentic look (For example in a Soul Eater costume, a soul eater logo covers the tear.)
